A Kart Track of Superlatives.
The meanwhile third ship of Norwegian Cruise Lines with a go-kart track on board was handed over to the shipping company by Meyer Werft in Germany at the end of 2019.
With a length of 350 metres and a track width of 5.5 metres, the go-kart track has again achieved the world record of the largest go-kart track on a cruise ship. We were thus able to continue our success story of the past years, in which we first equipped the Norwegian Joy and directly afterwards the Bliss with an appropriate system.
The electrical SiNUS iONs used have been specially adapted to the particularly challenging saline environment, which causes metal to rust in a very short time. The entire electronic system is also corrosion-resistant.
On the two upper decks, decks 18 and 19, of the 334 m long and 41 m wide ship, the multilevel system with two ramps was designed by RiMO. A special feature of the "Norwegian Speedway" is the 4 metre wide overhang of the track over the actual deck on both sides of the ship: a thrilling bonus.
A further highlight is the world premiere of the RiMO Laser Game: the spectators of the races can aim at sensors of the karts with a total of ten laser taggers from the grandstand, compete with each other and, depending on the operator's software settings, activate an extra boost for the driver.
The kart track has already been able to inspire thousands of holidaymakers in its area of operation between Miami and the Caribbean.
We wish you a continued good trip on both: vessel and karts!

Sundern/Germany – Cruise ship passengers can look forward to an outstanding attraction onboard Norwegian Cruise Line´s next vessel Norwegian Joy, which will feature a fully equipped premium Go-Kart track built by RiMO Supply, a company of the RiMO Germany Group and a world leader for rental karts and tracks.
Norwegian Joy is currently under construction at Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany and will be designed for 3,900 guests. The ship’s racetrack will be located on the ship’s upper decks, 18 and 19, and will be equipped with 20 karts, a viewing platform, covered pit lane, workshop, storage room, timing system, floodlights and a track that reaches 230 meters in length. This prestigious project represents a further milestone in the successful company history. With steel construction company B. RiMO Supply’s electrically powered race karts utilize the latest generation of technology to ensure optimal usage under the unique conditions of intensified UV and saltwater exposure that exist onboard a cruise ship. All karts are being constructed according to the highest international standards and the track´s functionality is equal to any high class land based karting facility – with the addition of an incredible view at 60m height.
The growing popularity and importance of electronic technology can be noticed in the karting sector as more and more companies opt to use this environmentally friendly and low-maintenance technology. RiMO experts are convinced that electric powered vehicles are the future in kart sports.
“We are proud to contribute our years of experience to such an outstanding project,” said Peter Bertram, owner and CEO of RiMO Germany Group.
“The electronically controlled engine sound as well as the non- existent exhausts are sure to meet cruise passengers’ expectations of a relaxed but varied and unique ride. Cruise ship passengers of nearly every age should be excited to have the opportunity to enjoy this one-of-a-kind amusement ride found only on Norwegian Joy.”
